General Information

All students can participate in EL Civics instruction and assessment. However, only ESL students in WIOA II EL Civics education programs can earn payment points for passing COAAP assessments. ABE, ASE, and CTE students can earn CAEP Immigrant Integration Indicator (I3) outcome for CAEP but not payment points for WIOA II. Language and literacy objectives with an asterisk (*) are suitable for beginning low level students.

Additional Assessment Plan Tasks

Task: 1

Description:	Task 1 Present an Oral Report on the American Flag Content (18 points possible) After researching (IL-A) or reading/learning (BL-BH) information about the American Flag or other relevant topic, student will give an oral report. The report will be based on the answers to up to 5 level appropriate questions (BL=3, BH=4, IL-A=5) such as: 1. What are the colors of the flag? 2. Why does the flag have 13 stripes? 3. Why does the flag have 50 stars? 4. What is the name of the national anthem? 5. How is the flag designed? (IL-A) 6. What is the history of the American flag? (IL-A) 7. What are some traditions associated with the American flag (IL-A) 8. What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance? (IL-A) Optimally, the research or reading/learning will take place on the internet. Presentation (2 points possible) Student will develop and utilize at least one visual (optimally a slide presentation) to demonstrate. Presenter will use effective speech and body language throughout the presentation.

Task: 2

Description:	Respond to Questions about the History and Government of the United States Student will respond to up to 12 questions about the history and government of the United States. These questions may be taken from the USCIS list of government and history questions for naturalization such as: • What is the supreme law of the land? • What are the three branches of government? • Who was the first president? • Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
