General Information

All students can participate in EL Civics instruction and assessment. However, only ESL students in WIOA II EL Civics education programs can earn payment points for passing COAAP assessments. ABE, ASE, and CTE students can earn CAEP Immigrant Integration Indicator (I3) outcome for CAEP but not payment points for WIOA II. Description: Identify Individuals Eligible for the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) (5 items, 10 points possible)
Given up to 5 level-appropriate, agency-created scenarios (BL=3, BH=5), student will identify the eligibility of individuals to obtain the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) according to the ITIN eligibility requirements. After reading the scenarios, student will write one sentence for each scenario to identify the eligible and ineligible individuals.

Task: 2

Description: Fill Out Form W-7
Given an agency-created personal history, student (IL-ADV) will complete an authentic Form W-7 Application for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. Given an agency-created personal history, student (BL-BH) will complete a Form W-7 with a reduced number of sections that student needs to fill out.

Optimally, the application will be completed on a computer or handwritten, signed and scanned to make a digital document and sent to the assessor electronically.

Responding to an agency created scenario, student will write a persuasive letter to the person in the scenario which includes up to 5 elements: a. Up to 2 (IL=1, IH-ADV = 2) appropriate reasons, why they should apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, b. 1 explanation of why this person meets the eligibility requirements, and c. Up to 2 examples (IL=1, IH-ADV = 2) of resources for assistance in the application process.
