General Information

All students can participate in EL Civics instruction and assessment. However, only ESL students in WIOA II EL Civics education programs can earn payment points for passing COAAP assessments. ABE, ASE, and CTE students can earn CAEP Immigrant Integration Indicator (I3) outcome for CAEP but not payment points for WIOA II. Task: 1

Description: Demonstrate Meaning of Workplace Signs
Student (BL-BH) will identify and demonstrate understanding of 10 signs that deal with workplace safety (e.g., “Exit,” “Wet Floor,” “Danger,” “Hard Hat Area,” “Caution: Hot,” “In Case of Emergency, Break Glass,” etc.). This task can be done orally or in writing.

Task: 2

Description: Report Unsafe Working Conditions (6 items, 12 points possible)
Given a picture prompt depicting an unsafe work condition, student will report an unsafe working condition to assessor in the role of a supervisor. Student will include up to 6 items (BL-BH=4, IL=5, IH-A=6), such as:
• Introduce self and position.
• Describe the unsafe working condition.
• Explain where the unsafe condition is located.
• Describe what might happen if it is not fixed.
• Suggest a solution.
• Close the conversation.
