General Information

All students can participate in EL Civics instruction and assessment. However, only ESL students in WIOA II EL Civics education programs can earn payment points for passing COAAP assessments. ABE, ASE, and CTE students can earn CAEP Immigrant Integration Indicator (I3) outcome for CAEP but not payment points for WIOA II. 3 Contact medical/dental/pharmaceutical providers to check eligibility for a payment assistance program.
4 Take notes on answers of the health agencies to questions asked.
5 Share the results of inquiries to health agencies with classmates.
6 *Request information from health care providers/agencies (e.g. hours, services, low cost health services, etc.)

Additional Assessment Plan Tasks

Task: 1

Description: Find Information on Low-Cost Health Care
Using sources such as the internet or teacher generated list, etc., student will identify a level-appropriate number of agencies/services (e.g. BL-BH=3, IL=4, IH-A=5) that are related to low-cost health care such as community clinics, hospitals, mental health centers, universities, insurance exchanges, etc. Student will complete a chart listing each agency with level-appropriate items such as name, phone number, address, services provided, eligibility requirements, and documentation needed.

Optimally, the chart will be created on a computer and sent to the assessor electronically.

Task: 2

Description: Complete a Patient Information/Application Form for Low-cost Health Services/Insurance
Given a level-appropriate agency-created personal history, student (IL-A) will complete an authentic low-cost medical care form. Student (BL-BH) will fill out an authentic low-cost medical care form with a reduced number of sections that student needs to complete. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways such as: (1) giving BL-BH the complete form given to IL-A students and highlighting the sections BL-BH students need to fill out (2) giving BL-BH a reduced form which includes only those sections of the authentic form (given to IL-A students) that are assigned to BL-BH students.

Optimally, the form will be completed on a computer and sent to the assessor electronically.
