General Information

All students can participate in EL Civics instruction and assessment. However, only ESL students in WIOA II EL Civics education programs can earn payment points for passing COAAP assessments. ABE, ASE, and CTE students can earn CAEP Immigrant Integration Indicator (I3) outcome for CAEP but not payment points for WIOA II. Additional Assessment Plan Tasks

Task: 1

Description: Identify Safe and Unsafe Working Conditions
After inspecting and identifying unsafe conditions in a sample work or training location (e.g. welding shop) or visual of a work or training location, student (e.g. assistant welding supervisor) will participate in a role play with the assessor (Safety Department employee) to report via telephone three unsafe working conditions. Student will include up to the following 12 items:
-Introduce self and position in company.
-State reason for call.
-Describe up to 3 unsafe working conditions (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-Recommend 1 safety solution for each unsafe working condition(IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-Describe potential dangers for each unsafe working condition if safety measures are not implemented (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-Close the conversation.

Task: 2

Description: Report Unsafe Working Conditions
Using the inspection information from Task 1, student will fill out an authentic online Safety Report for unsafe working conditions. The report will include up to the following 13 pieces of information:
-Name and position of employee and date of visual inspection.
-List and describe the 3 unsafe working conditions (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-List and identify the locations of the unsafe working conditions (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-List and recommend 1 safety solution for each unsafe working condition (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).
-List and explain potential dangers for each unsafe working condition if safety measures are not implemented (IL=1, IH=2, A=3).

Task: 3

Description: Present an Oral Report about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Using the inspection information from Task 1 and Task 2, if applicable, student will present to the assessor or a group (which includes the assessor), the safety reasons for using proper PPE. Student will present up to 3 (IL=1, IH=2, A=3) standard items of equipment (e.g. face, eye and ear protection, general work clothing, special protective clothing) using 3 elements listed below:

For each selected standard item of equipment, the report will include 3 elements such as:
Description of equipment
Its purpose as protective equipment
Under what work or training conditions equipment is used

Visual Aids/Realia
Student will use proper and relevant visual aids to support and demonstrate the oral presentation.

Presentation
Student will use effective speech and body language and will refer to the visual aids throughout the presentation.
